Delta 21

Delta 21 is a regional sustainable planning program to the west of Rotterdam. The plan has a different functionalities such as: safety against floods, storage and generation of energy, guarantee fresh water for Rotterdam and surroundings, and the regeneration of the natural surrounding habitat.

C Concept Design was engaged to develop the concept and visualizations for the ambitious sustainable plan. The heart of Delta 21 is a storage lake of 20 km2, where energy will be stored temporarily and revived through the use of pumps and turbines. The high power pump capacity can be used, during storms and floods, as a booster to return the overflow of water back to the sea.
