“Blue District” Utrecht

The Cartesiusdriehoek in Utrecht will be transformed into the first blue zone located in a city, according to the winning plan ‘Blue District’ by MRP Development and Ballast Nedam Development for the sale and development of the area. The team was selected by NS and the municipality of Utrecht to develop the new residential area. The plan is based on the five areas in the world where the residents live longer, healthier,c and happier: the Blue Zones.

The winning team consists of MRP Development and Ballast Nedam Development, the Dutch Residential fund of CBRE Global Investors and Portal for the reduction of residences, Mecanoo, Meyer Bergman Erfgoed Programmering en Hylkema, We Drive Solar, Urban Sync, Over Morgen, Antea, RROG, Rebel and C Concept Design.
