Intern-Turned-CEO

The early days of Justin Mast’s blossoming career started with an internship experience at C Concept Design in 2011, where he worked on the Kruizenga Art Museum project as well as urban and shopping center design. Perhaps it was this very hands-on, real-life experience in concept development at an entrepreneurial company that planted the seeds for his future success: we like to think so.

But Justin’s real passion has always been plants, and he’s just announced that a company he founded in May 2018, Bloomscape, closed a $7.5 million Series A led by Revolution Ventures, Endeavor, and a host of all-star founders like Away’s Jen Rubio, Allbirds’ Joey Zwillinger, Harry’s’ Jeff Raider, and Warby Parker’s Neil Blumenthal and Dave Gilboa.

Bloomscape’s business concept banks on the growing interest of Millenials in plants, offering living-room-ready plant delivery “straight from the greenhouse to your door.”  Drawing on his lineage among five generations of greenhouse growers and floral industry innovators, Justin developed a unique packaging system for his deliveries, ensuring the plants and pot are held securely in place to arrive alive and without a mess.

“I’m thrilled for Justin and what the future holds for Bloomscape,” said C Concept Design’s CEO, Matthew VanderBorgh. “He has clearly found a niche that combines his own experience and expertise in greenhouses and plants life with the trends of this next generation to purchase online and to embrace green in their living environment.”

We wish Justin and Bloomscape every success as they continue to grow their category-defining direct-to-consumer plant brand.
